Since Path has no idea what Sven is talking about, he just lifts his shoulders not thinking him to be worth more or less because he has a fancy title.

[OOC: Des, I do not have a clear picture of where we are on the road between Hanford and Starmorgan. Are we east of the fork in the road that heads off to Silverbell? Also, the road we walked to get to the Maiden's Rest Inn was also 'fortified'. Was that road a route to Silverbell, too? We need to know what our options are...]

[Maybe... You first problem will be to determine your exact position... Rowell left you with few, if any information - basically, you know that you are more north than Silverbell, but since the only way south goes through the swamps and back to the inn, you really might to skip that one... The best thing might just be to follow the route westwards...]

[I am sorry, I had completely missed that post. But no, Erdath wasn't able to detect any more information. You'll soon be rewarded in some way in-game for my fault.]

Kyvaryn and Rotfoot also leave you, and swear on Ordanna, or respectively, Charis, to get Joseph's family on the next ship eastwards. With them go the two woodsmen, battered and grieving for their friend. Basil, Joseph's son, looks hesistant, and, and his eyes fall on Path, you all can feel the hate that stands between them.

Hastily, your comrades say their goodbyes and move on, hoping to arrive in Hanford before sundown. leaving you alone under "Skelfer's Oak" at the crossroads...

"Take these coins from Rowell. They might help you in your travels. Until we meet again, fare thee well."

I will give half of the coins in the purse that Rowell gave me to those that depart for Hanford. As I divide them, do I notice anything unusual about them? Were they minted by the Thieves Guild or anything like that? I am wondering why Rowell would have thought that they would help us.

[Did Mant stay with us or go East with the others? I think that he is the only NPC not mentioned.]

"Absolutely!" Jigimy says his goodbyes to the departing, and gathers his things.

As he watches Rowell & his men wink out of sight, he thinks he won't miss them much....at all, for that matter. He murmurs as he turns to do something..anything else "Foolish thugs....."

Unless someone objects, I will start walking west on the road. If at any point we spot anyone on the way, I will get off the road and look for cover as fast as possible.

As I walk: "Is anyone good with a bow but lacking one? I have found that I am not very good with this heavy crossbow. So, if some one can put it to better use, I would be glad to give it to him."

After taking the coins and putting them somewhere in his backpack, Path says "I've my bow, thank you... But why? Aren't the roads safe enough around here?

And where exactly are we going? Silverbell? What's Silverbell anyway?"

As we start walking, Path will give the road we walk on a quick check.
Is it a well-traveled road (looking at footsteps or tracks left by cartwheels and at possible other travellers)? Is it a hollow road where it's easy to be robbed?
Are there, in the growth surrounding the road, signs of wild animals? (broken branches at certain heights, ways created by wolves or boars, a dead carcass pointing to predatory animals, etc...) What kind of animals could be living there?
To do this, Path does not stay on the road itself, but walks in and out of the bushes as well.

Path has one of Gila's daggers drawn and uses it to cut possible overgrowth away. He also checks this dagger quickly, to see what it looks like.

"You heard Rowell, there is a war starting in these parts right now. Silverbell is the name of a town Southwest of here. I have personal business there and it seems to be a place where we can now take part in a war to liberate this region, known as the Duchy of Ten, from the oppression of the Afridhi who invaded it when I was a small boy. My home is in the Kingdom of Blackmoor to the East of here. As I said, my father is an ambassador to the Kingdom of Blackmoor, from another Kingdom even further East, the kingdom of the Cumasti elves in the Redwood Forest."

"The Afridhi came from a region to the Northwest of the Duchy of Ten. There is another Kingdom to the South which I call the Great Kingdom, although it is more generally known as the Thonian Empire these days. Blackmoor used to be part of the Great Kingdom. In fact, the people who put a price on my head are part of a faction that wants to bring Blackmoor back into the Great Kingdom. How is that for a brief geography and history lesson? Where are you from anyway?"

If you allow him, Sven will continue telling stories of the history, heroes and nobility of the area for the whole time that the party is travelling.

The coins that Sven received look like usual, maybe a bit more shiny golden coins. They all bear the seal of Blackmoor on them, a tower above a stormy sea... You cannot tell what might be so special about them...

In the purse were about 20 coins. Sven hands over ten of them to Kythrain, then they say farewell.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

From Skelfer's Oak, you begin to follow the narrow road westwards, hopefully into the direction of the small, besieged town of Silverbell...

It seems that you have finally left the swamps behind you, and on the clear autumn day, your minds float into the bright sky...

A new journey has begun.
